International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote and celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

As Texas State University continues to internationalize and increase its global engagement, we are pleased to announce a series of events as part of International Education Week (IEW). IEW, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, seeks to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. IEW 2023 will take place November 13-17.

Please join us this November at Texas State University as we celebrate International Education and Global Engagement.

What is International Education?

International education involves the effort to educate people about the global nature of the environment in which they live, study and work. International education at a university campus is illustrated by departments, offices, and organizations with international emphases like the Center for International Studies, International Affairs, International Student and Scholar Services, and Education Abroad.

International education takes place in the curriculum, research, education abroad, and instruction in intensive English to students whose first language is not English. There are also many offices within the university that have international components such as international admissions, the hiring of international faculty, and services and activities related to international students and scholars, including Fulbright Scholars.
