The US Department of State has authorized Texas State University to administer Exchange Visitor Program as a sponsor of the program. The Responsible Officer (RO) or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 exchange visitors attending or working at Texas State University are located at the International Student & Scholar Services Office.
The RO and ARO are the only individuals who have signing authority for the program and the Form DS-2019.
Important Notice: Changes to J-1 Duration of Status
Effective September 15, 2026, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will end the use of Duration of Status (D/S) for J-1 exchange visitors. J-1 students and scholars entering the United States on or after this date will generally be admitted for a fixed period of time rather than D/S.
Current J-1 students and scholars: If you are already in the United States in J-1 status, different transition provisions may apply. Please review the information below or contact International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) if you have questions about how these changes may affect you.
