Exchange Visitor Arrival Orientation

Federal law requires J-1 exchange visitors complete an arrival orientation upon entering the US. Exchange visitors and dependents at Texas State University are strongly encouraged to review the arrival orientation resources below, which focus on adjusting to the San Marcos and surrounding area community:

Cross Cultural Activities

Federal law requires that cross cultural activities be provided for J-1 exchange visitors and accompanying dependents. ISSS invites all exchange visitors and their dependents to stay connected and attend ISSS events.

Emergency Contacts

The Office of Private Sector Exchange would like to remind sponsors about our outreach efforts to exchange visitors on the Exchange Visitor Program (EVP).

The Office of Private Sector Exchange will email newly validated exchange visitors to remind them of the Emergency Hotline as well as other resources for assistance that are available to them. Recent surveys revealed many exchange visitors do not know about the J-Visa Emergency Hotline. Please note, this communication will reinforce sponsors as the primary contact for exchange visitors during their program, and exchange visitors should first notify sponsors of any program issues before contacting the Department.

Please add the jvisas@state.gov email address to your contacts and address book. The emails from jvisas@state.gov contain legitimate and important communications from the Department and are not spam.
